Ken Roberts

Ken
Roberts was Chief Librarian of the Hamilton Public Library from 1994 until his
retirement in 2012. He has received both
the Canadian Library Association's Outstanding Service to Librarianship Award
(2012) and the Ontario Public Library Association's Lifetime Achievement Award
(also 2012). Ken is a member of McMaster
University's Alumnae Gallery in recognition of his contributions to society.
In 2012 the Province of British Columbia commissioned Ken to write a paper on trends that affect the future of public libraries. He has assisted the Canadian Urban Libraries Council with its ebook task force and is proud to have been a leader-in-residence at the Edmonton Public Library.
Ken is a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s expert panel commissioned to hold a national conversation on the future of libraries. He was a keynote speaker at a national technology conference in The Netherlands (December, 2012) and has spoken on the same topic across Canada in 2013. Ken has also worked with Dr. Cheryl Stenstrom on a research paper that investigates the effectiveness of library technology-driven services and funding models.
