Debbie Schachter

Debbie Schachter is the Director of Learning Resources at Douglas College in New Westminster BC. Debbie has more than 20 years of experience working in a variety of library and non-profit organization environments. Prior to joining the college, Debbie was at Vancouver Public Library where she held the positions of Director, Technology & Collection Management, from 2009-2011, and Manager, East Area in 2008.
Debbie writes a regular column in SLA's Information Outlook magazine on business and management issues, has recently contributed to an ALA text on Middle Management, is a regular guest lecturer on a variety of topics at the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia, and co-instructs Supervision for Library Technicians at Langara College in Vancouver, British Columbia.
She completed a Masters of Library Science in 1990 from UBC, and a Masters of Business Administration in the Management of Technology from Simon Fraser University in 2002.
